1st Huntington Brownies has been established for over 15 years.
Brownies are part of the Guiding Association which covers girls aged 7/10 years. It is an organisation which stemmed from the scouting organisation founded by Lord Baden Powell, to encompass girls.
1st Huntington Brownies hold their Meetings at Huntington Village Hall on Wednesday evenings at 5.45 to 7pm. There are 24 girls in the unit with 2 guiders, a Young Leader and various parent helpers.
We also participate in District events, meeting up with other Brownie Units and undertaking various activities. These often take place at Pettypool, the campsite /holiday lodge owned by the guiding association. Other group events have taken place at the MBNA sports facilities.
At meetings we cook, undertake craft activities, play games, sing songs, go on excursions to swimming baths, theatres and meals out. We meet up with other local Units and hold meetings together. We have also gone on pack holidays with other Units.
The Brownies work in 4 groups of 6 which are called sixes, with one Brownie being a leader of their group known as the sixer. The sixer has a seconder to help. 1st Huntington Brownies have the following sixes:-
