Huntington Parish Council
Your Parish Council - Your Community
Huntington Parish Council is an elected body
to represent the people of Huntington and is made up of ten councillors.
Huntington Parish Council is committed to making sure its residents have access
to the best facilities and services possible either through providing these
facilities and services itself or working in partnership with other
organisations and authorities including the Police, Fire Service and Cheshire
West & Chester Borough Council to provide these services.
Democracy on your Doorstep
Huntington Parish Council has ten councillors who are described as ‘elected’
although they were all elected through an uncontested election in May 2011. This
means that only ten people stood for the ten seats therefore no voting was
required.
This has not always been the case in the past with a by-election being called in
December 2008 to fill two seats with a total of seven candidates standing.
The
Parish Council is elected every four years the next scheduled election will be
in May 2015.
Almost anyone can stand to be a Parish Councillor so long as they are aged 18 or
over, have been a resident of or worked in the Parish, or lived within 3 miles
of the Parish Boundary, for a year.
