HUNTINGTON BROWNIES
1st Huntington Brownies has been
established for over 15 years.
Brownies are part of the
Guiding
Association which covers girls aged 7/10 years. It is an
organisation which stemmed from the scouting organisation founded by Lord
Baden Powell, to encompass girls.
1st Huntington Brownies hold their
Meetings at Huntington Village Hall on Wednesday evenings at 5.45 to 7pm.
There are 24 girls in the unit with 2 guiders, a Young Leader and various
parent helpers.
1st Huntington Brownies undertake various activities. These include
working for various interest Badges:-
   
Taking part in Community based
activities such as the Village Hall Christmas Show. We have visited
the Police Station, where Brownies had the opportunity to have their
finger prints taken. We are making a visit to the Fire Station this
term to take the Fire Safety badge.
We also participate in District events, meeting up with other Brownie
Units and undertaking various activities. These often take place at
Pettypool, the campsite /holiday lodge owned by the guiding association.
Other group events have taken place at the MBNA sports facilities.
At meetings we cook, undertake craft activities, play games, sing songs,
go on excursions to swimming baths, theatres and meals out. We meet up
with other local Units and hold meetings together. We have also gone
on pack holidays with other Units.
The Brownies work in 4 groups of 6 which are called sixes, with one
Brownie being a leader of their group known as the sixer. The sixer
has a seconder to help. 1st Huntington Brownies have the following
sixes:-
Squirrels
Hedgehogs
Foxes
Rabbits
   
1st Huntington Brownies is fun. We always have a full Unit with a waiting
list to join.
